Volunteer for Community Service Today!
The Warm Line
817-546-7806
Started December 1, 2008, MHATC launched a brand new, much-needed service in Tarrant County. Phones staffed by trained volunteer mentors, open Monday through Friday, 2-6 p.m., receive calls from people in the community needing support. This helps the caller feel heard, understood and like their issues and problems are important to someone outside themselves.
Often, when people call, they are not aware they are seeking support and they will call emergency assistance lines (like 9-1-1) or crisis hot lines (like 817-335-3022). A caller not in crisis but strictly needing support can take up precious time on an emergency line.
The Warm Line helps the caller find a resource that is matched to their needs. The trained volunteer mentors spend some time on each call and focus on supportive listening and brief problem-solving techniques.
The service is available Monday through Friday from 2-6pm.
The Warm Line will also be making outbound support calls with a referral from a mental health professional.
If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for the Warm Line, please call Lena, the Project Supervisor, at 817-546-7806 for more information.
